As another year came to a close, we spent our final days and hours of 2021 reflecting on the year that we had – the joys and the sorrows, the disappointments and the successes, and often the changes we wish we would have made over the past 365 days. Therefore, our time of reflection turns into a time of setting new goals. Perhaps the new goals for the new year are health goals, or maybe they are career, financial, or spiritual goals. Whatever they may be, I urge you to set both intentional and achievable goals. There is something to be said about achieving a well thought out and sought-after goal, checking that box off can do wonders for the human mind!!

I will also urge you to consider adding regular chiropractic care to your health goals and resolutions this year! Try to commit to the goal over the next year and wait to see the changes and benefits that may come of it at another year end – it may surprise you!

Why Regular Chiropractic Care?

Just like your car or any large piece of machinery, the human body needs maintenance care to keep it healthy. Many of us do the bare minimum to maintain “health” – eat, sleep, and “exercise.” However, that may not always be enough! Health is multi-faceted and we need to look at each aspect of health to maintain and achieve true health.

Going to the dentist every 6 months – maintenance. Going to your annual medical exam – maintenance. For the females reading this… your mammogram, your Pap smear – maintenance. Similarly, chiropractic care can be maintenance care for spinal health.

Here are just a couple reasons why you need regular visits to the chiropractor in 2022:

1. To prevent or correct joint restrictions.

Throughout our regular lives and daily activities, we use and abuse our bodies in more ways than we even may realize and without understanding the implications it may have on our joint health. For example, minor accidents or traumas, poor sleep habits, excessive hours at work, or compensatory movement patterns. Honestly, joint restrictions are not always easily noticed, so you might ignore them until they become evident (aka begin to have pain). Usually by the time we begin to have pain and symptoms, joint restrictions are usually more difficult to deal with and have become more burdensome in our lives. Regular chiropractor visits will help detect early joint restrictions and tackle them before they become troublesome.

2. You are NOT an expert.

You might feel like you know all there is to know about chiropractic care because you have watched a few YouTube or TikTok videos, but that is not the case. Chiropractic care is beyond the noisy pops and cracks or the use of the y-strap or an adjustment call the “ringer-dinger (?).”

Visiting the chiropractor will help you find new corrective stretches and postural exercises you can do to enhance your spinal health. You may also find the professional advice of a chiropractic suggesting habits you should drop immediately.

3. Good spinal health makes everything else a little bit better.

The health of almost every other body system is linked to good spinal health. Your immune system, nervous system, digestive system, endocrine system, etc., are all connected to your spine. If you take good care of your spine, all other systems will flourish as a result.

How often do you have to see the chiropractor?

The type and frequency of care is dependent on each individual person. Some of your jobs are more physically demanding than others or more stressful to your joints than others and therefore, may require you to see the chiropractor more often.
